AIA Continuing Education Course

Xella Aircrete North America Inc. is an Approved Provider of AIA/CES.  Our AIA Continuing Education Courses are offered at no charge.  Seminars can be conducted in seminar, lunch and learn or workshop format.  This is an ongoing program and is available by appointment.  Currently we have available a general topic course that is an introduction to Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) and are working on a second course to meet the Sustainable Design Requirements.

Program Title: AAC 101: Autoclaved Aerated Concrete
Program Description: This program will give the audience an understanding of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete as a building material and its sustainable design features. Topics include an overview of the material’s history, the manufacturing process, material properties, such as thermal efficiency, fire resistance, acoustic performance and ecology, and examples of structures built with AAC throughout the World.
Upon completing this course, you will be able to:
1. Explain the properties of AAC and how it is manufactured.
2. Identify AAC products and profiles.
3. Describe performance advantages of AAC, including fire resistance, seismic, sustainability and energy performance.
4. Recognize areas where AAC can assist in earning LEED™ credits.
5. Explain AAC construction techniques in typical commercial, hospitality and educational building applications.
